Glass Inclusions: What Lies Beneath!

Description:Fire up your imagination for a whole new dimension of fused glass. This class will teach you how to successfully fuse various objects between two pieces of glass. Inclusions covered in this workshop will include brass, copper, aluminum, fiber paper, leaves, mica and more. Students will take home a selection of sample tiles to uses as reference pieces for future work and a small bowl blank that you can slump at home (or in the studio for a small additional fee).

Advanced Strip Construction and Pattern Bars

Description:This large bowl class includes an arsenal of advanced construction and design techniques. For students who have had either our strip bowl or pattern bar class, this advanced course will cover a number of new and exciting techniques: -Creating perfect boundries in strip construction. -Micro-window pattern bars -Alternative shaped pattern bars (slabs and non-rectangular) -Deep Dimension Strips -Terrazo Vitra -Grouting -Uneven Strip Construction -Multigenerational Pattern Bars All techniques will be demonstrated and explained. Students will then design a large bowl or platter using a selection of techniques and then build, coldwork and slump their own masterpiece.

Pattern Bars: Any way you slice it!

Description:Learn new twists on an ancient technique. This project centered class will encompass the process of building a small tray using pattern bars as the main component. Students will learn to build three different types of pattern bars that are either geometric or organic in design. The class will be guided through each step from building and damming the pattern bars, sandblasting, using the tile saw, cutting strips to cold working the final piece. Students will take home their final tray and their remaining pattern bar components.

Glass Combing: Strokes of Genius

Description:In this four hour workshop you will rake through hot glass while it is in the kiln to create your combing. We will teach you kiln safety, shelf preparation, strip cutting, how to comb your piece. Discussion topics will include various ways of setting up the glass and how to prepare and use the combed glass in a future project. The combings will be available to take home the following day.

Advanced Dichro: 15 Techniques!

Description:If you want to make the most of your dichroic glass, this is the class for you. Learn some of the most advanced techniques for creating magnificent and distinctive dichroic jewelry. This class covers over 15 techniques including several etching techniques, inclusions, and layering for depth. Students will make about 10 different pieces suitable for stringing or putting on a chain.
